Yann's Projects

GoodPlanet

GoodPlanet is a non-profit organization created and chaired by YAB, whose aim is to heighten public awareness of our world's issues and promote sustainable development.

Yann Arthus-Bertrand has been flying over a hundred countries for more than 15 years. His aerial photographs, completed by educational captions, invite us all to think about the Earth's evolution and the future of its inhabitants. Over the past 50 years, mankind has modified the planet quicker and more extensively than in any comparable period of time in human history. Forests, oceans, and wetlands among other ecosystems, suffer the consequences of constant anthropic pressure. At this critical stage, the alternative offered by a sustainable development policy should help bringing about the necessary changes in order to « meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. » Each and every one of us can and must act and contribute to the future of both mankind and the Earth starting now.

GoodPlanet's Mission

>> To promote sustainable development, enabling each of us to become an actor of our planet's evolution and consequently of our own future.

>> To heighten public awareness of our world problems through several large-scale projects: cultural and pedagogic happenings, exhibitions, audiovisual productions, photographs, books.

>> To mobilize economic and political actors, associating them to Goodplanet's actions, thus allowing them to become actively involved in sustainable development.

>> To act, setting up programs that bring concrete answers to the threats facing our planet.

GoodPlanet's Projects

"Sustainable development : what for?" an educational exhibition: 22 posters concerning both social and environmental issues in today's world, distributed free of charge to all the schools in France. (Developed through a partnership with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Ecology and Sustainable Development)

"6 Billion Others" tries to portray the world's inhabitants under a sensitive and humanistic angle. The team has been travelling throughout the world and has already filmed 3,000 interviews. Those interviews focus on themes that have crossed both ages and culture: family, happiness, war, joy, fear, laughter, tears...

"Action Carbone" is a program aimed at companies, institutions and individuals; it offers them the possibility to offset their emissions of greenhouse effect gases by funding programs in fields such as forestry, agroforestry, renewable energies and energy efficiency in order to fight against global warming.

"Alive" is a spectacular exhibition made of 93 photographs of animals and nature, and 64 panels dealing with the dreadful human impact on the Earth. This exhibition was first displayed in the natural setting of the Bois de Boulogne on June 2, 2006. It has been on tour in France since then, and should travel the world in the near future.
